• 5 Habits to Create a Better You

Our wants in life can change over time, but it’s our habits that can make us or break us. Even when we don’t know what career path we want to take, our habits can still build us up. Having good habits not only improves us but it prepares us for our future. As Benjamin Franklin states “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

We can be very strategic. We can be mentally, physically and emotionally prepared before knowing our master plan.

Here are 5 habits to help create a better you!

    1. Timeliness. Here is a little trick to help you be on time. “To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, to be late is unacceptable.” Also setting your clocks ahead of time helps too.

    2. Consistency. Pick something and choose to be consistent. The gym, reading books, journaling. Pick something that would preferably benefit you in a positive way and be consistent at it.

    3. Meditation. Start each day with a clean mind. Meditation is know to be a very powerful habit that can mentally strength you in many ways.

    4. Daily Affirmations. Create the habit of telling encouraging phrases to yourself.

    5. Self care. Get in the habit of making sure your health is good. Getting 7-8 hrs of sleep. Shower daily. Clean hair, nails and feet. Healthy food in take.

Today’s article was inspired by Myleik Teele, the owner of Curl Box. Myleik recently tweeted, “It’s OK if you don’t have a 2018 master plan today. Dedicate yourself to better habits. Be early. Be consistent. Do your best when you feel your worst. Read some more. Make more mistakes. Habits over acts.”

Myleik tweet inspired me to expand on how we can use our habits to better ourselves. Thank you Myleik for inspiring me, and I hope this article inspires you!

The journey to success will always and forever be the best part, so enjoy the road your on and never give up on yourself!

I hope that sharing my experiences and sharing your experiences that we both grow to reach our full potential!

  • 8 Fun Affordable Ways to Recharge

There is nothing worst than feeling burned out and completely over our goals. In these moments its easy to lose sight of our dreams. If we learn how to recharge ourselves, then there will be less down time taken away from our goals. I recommend scheduling in time to recharge before we get to the point where we feel “over it”.

Taking a break to recharge allows us to clear our mind and refocus. This tool has helped me to stay inspired and continue personal journeys.

Here are some fun affordable ways to recharge!

    1. Spa Amenities – You can have access to all of the spas amenities without getting any treatments. I personally like going to Glen Ivy. Prices start at $35-$55 depending on the time of day and season.

    2. Pedicure – Nothing like getting your nails done! Its easy to want to get the most expensive package, but honestly the foot rub is by far the best part! Pay the extra $5 and walk out feeling brand new! Prices generally starting around $20.

    3. Lunch with a good friend – A good friend always knows how to get you back on your feet. They are good reminders of how far you have come, and are able to easily boost your confidence.

    4.  An inspirational movie – Scroll through Netflix for a pick me up! I personally become inspired by movies that are based on a true story or a Docu Series.

    5. Go for a hike – Walking is obviously a form of working out, but there is something about walking through nature. Hearing the birds sing and the wind blow has a way of calming the soul and clearing the mind.

    6. Weekend getaway with friends – Yes, split the hotel bills, stay up all night reminiscing, hang out at the pool and of course hit the hotel brunch on Sunday morning! Perfection!

    7. YouTube Motivation – Type in Motivation on YouTube and TADA! You have a variety of videos to choose from to help inspire and motivate you. A quick recharge!

    8. A Book – I just love falling into a book based on someones real life. Reading how their life unfold and the ups and downs can be so motivating! Amazon has great prices on books!

It’s a lot cheaper and less time consuming if we plan our recharge. So, instead of hitting the ground floor and trying to mentally rebuild, use your time wisely! Don’t allow yourself to get burned out!

    Stay Motivated!

I hope this post inspires you to be the best you can be!

  • The Art of Giving Featuring The Fly Buddha Founder Sara Krish

Today I have something extremely special to share with you, a look into the thoughts & mindset of a giver.

Sara Krish, the founder of The Fly Buddha has dedicated her life to helping women with gynecological (cervical) cancer to have the opportunity to one day have a family, by freezing their eggs. Sara is a survivor of gynecological cancer and understands that just because a women has gynecological cancer, doesn’t mean she should have to give up the possibility of having a family.

The first time I learned about Sara and her foundation, I couldn’t help but be filled with happiness. As a Mother of a 1yr old, I realize the pure joy that Sara is helping to give women. Sara is giving the possibility of the greatest gift of all: Life.

It’s with pure joy and respect that I share Sara Krish story with you.

What is your biggest concern when it comes to gynecological (cervical) cancer?

Cancer took away a sweet innocence. It forced me to face my mortality. I now have a real and direct relationship with death and illness and the lack of guarantees that tomorrow holds. Because of this experience, I have prepared myself to hear the words, “You have cancer” again. It’s not a fearful or pessimistic view. It doesn’t paralyze me or cause sadness. It’s just my reality as a survivor. Its return is my only concern.

How many women have you helped freeze their eggs?

Through my collaboration with Southern California Reproductive Center, we have significantly raised the awareness on fertility preservation, helped educate many women on the process of egg freezing, and provided financial assistance to women touched by cancer as they journey toward motherhood.

Can you share a time when you felt discouraged and used giving as a tool to overcome the situation?

Working in the cancer community, I am often challenged on a heart level with the struggles individuals endure. I share my experiences, my empathy, and my guidance in an effort to soothe us both.

If you could talk to your 30 year old self, that just found out you had cervical cancer, what would you tell her?

“You are going to grow beyond your imagination during this process. Trust the breakdowns. Be patient with the pain. Respect the journey. And get ready to fly!”

How has your life been effected since starting the foundation?

There isn’t a second in which I feel “alone” in this world. I know that I have people watching, wanting, needing, supporting, helping, celebrating, surviving, growing, and hopeful because of The Fly Buddha Foundation. That’s one hell of a purpose!

Giving is fuel for the soul.
The more we give, the more purposeful we feel.

    What is your biggest fear?

I believe that we choose to live from a place of love or from a place fear. One is powerful and generous while the other is restricting and toxic. I do not fear. I live with a heart and mind wide open to receive – all the wild, all the unknown, all the challenges. For me, in my life, there is no room for fear.

What would you like people to know about Gynecological cancer?

Gynecological cancers are hitting over 71,000 women a year. That’s extremely alarming. My advice to every human is to listen to that internal voice, pay attention to the signs, and stay curious about your body – stay committed to your health.

As I get older the more I realize that giving is the answer to some of life’s most difficult answers, especially giving without expecting a return.

Sara Krish was so kind to be so open with us. Thank you Sara Krish for fighting for women to have the opportunity to see beyond their current situation and for giving women options. Thank you for bring open with us, we truly appreciate you sharing your story.

  • 30 Days of Headspace

Hold up, today is Sunday and there is a blog post? Yup, there sure is!

Because Wednesday’s shouldn’t be the only day we motivate and encourage ourselves!

With this exciting news I wanted to share that, tomorrow (Monday) I will be starting “30 Days of Headspace.” Headspace is a meditation app that helps clear the mind.

    Headspace states:

“For thousands of years, meditators have claimed many benefits for their practice. Our experience, and that of Headspace members, suggests that regular mindfulness practice, through meditation, is an effective treatment for stress, worry, lack of focus, relationship problems, addictions and more. It leads to peace of mind and wellbeing, greater focus and creativity and better relationships.”

I’ve always wanted to add meditation to my lifestyle, but I had to find the best way that works for me. I like that Headspace talks me through the session and that the level 1 sessions are 10 minutes.

I have never consistently meditated and Im extremely excited to start this journey of mediation!

I will share an update article halfway through the month & my final thoughts regarding the app at the end of the 30 Days.

You are more than welcome to join me on this journey!

    Download the free app Headspace!
